If you live near the beach, you know the routine - sand everywhere, wet suits to rinse, saltwater on everything. A proper outdoor shower isn't a luxury at that point, it's just practical. This Ocean Beach build was all about creating something that could actually handle that lifestyle day in and day out.
We started with the bones - plumbing rough-in, framing, and getting the layout dialed in before a single finished board went up. That early work is what makes the end result tight and clean. No shortcuts on the structure, because the structure is what everything else depends on.
For the wood, we went with Ipe. It's one of the hardest, most moisture-resistant hardwoods available - perfect for a coastal environment where humidity and water exposure are constant. The horizontal board layout gives it a sharp, intentional look while still keeping it feeling natural and outdoor-appropriate. Built-in shelving on the side wall adds real function without cluttering the space.
The floor is an existing river rock pebble base with a center drain, and the fixtures are a brushed bronze rain head and valve combo that sits flush against the Ipe wall. Everything ties together. It looks like it belongs there - not like something bolted on as an afterthought. That's the goal with every outdoor build we do, whether it's a deck, a patio cover, or a space like this.
Ipe is known to last decades in outdoor conditions when built right. This shower is going to outlast a lot of things on that property. That's the kind of work we're proud to put our name on.
